Grace Community Church – Westford, MA
Our long-standing client, Grace Community Church, challenged our team this year with an impressive new project. Having recently purchased a new location, they were in need of everything AV from the ground up for their sanctuary. Adding to the design intrigue, the Church wanted to incorporate several video walls. After many demos and much testing, three large Absen displays were decided on. Between construction schedules, product delivery windows, and the deadline from the client, we dealt with many coordination challenges. After months of planning, it was exciting when we finally got to the installation dates and could see our sales and engineering teams’ vision for this space. It has taken a small army thus far, but it has been great working with so many talented people from all over the country. The result will be amazing, and I’m so excited that Grace Community Church will fully move into its new space.

Town of Sudbury Schools – Sudbury, MA
My favorite project this year was a group of projects for the town of Sudbury. Five of their schools were in much need of an audio-visual overhaul, and the plan was to get these upgrades done before their fiscal year-end. We were able to quickly rise to the challenge and design, install, and complete all these projects in their entirety during the month of June.
What I enjoyed most about these projects was the coordination and time management involved in getting these projects completed on time. When we started in early June, school was still in session, adding an extra layer of complexity to the projects. With the hard work of our technicians, we successfully completed all five schools within the tight deadline.

Temple Beth Elohim – Wellesley, MA
I always get excited when Temple Beth Elohim comes to us with a request. Of all the sites I’ve been able to work on, the Temple is easily in my top five for most visually stunning places. With aesthetics being so integral to the design, I knew I needed a creative solution when they approached us, seeking to upgrade the speaker system in the main sanctuary. Due to the different room layouts and depending on the specific service, a mobile speaker setup was the best solution for the job.
Shanahan partnered with local mount manufacturer Polar Focus to match the aesthetics to create custom mounts to integrate JBL CBT 70 speakers. A unique gold-colored finish was applied to both the mounts and the speakers, allowing them to blend in seamlessly with the Temple’s decor. I couldn’t be happier with how the new speakers look and sound in the sanctuary. They performed flawlessly for their recent High Holy Days!

ProSegur – Lowell, MA
Of all the sites I got to work at this year, the one that stands out as my favorite was ProSegur. I was tasked with installing eighteen, yes, that’s right, eighteen 65” TVs into a dual video wall configuration. Each video wall was three TVs wide by three TVs tall. When it all came together, the visual impact of the wall was quite impressive. I always find projects like this to be the most rewarding because of the sheer magnitude of the components coming together. Also, once I was onsite, I quickly recognized one of ProSegur’s employees with whom I had previously worked. It’s always fun to catch up with a former colleague. This project came together quickly and was easily my favorite of 2024.

The Baldwin – Londonderry, NH
The Baldwin is an all-new Life Plan Community in Londonderry, NH. In addition to a state-of-the-art community gathering room, the facility features a Fitness Center, an Aquatic Center, two restaurants, and a purpose-built classroom for lifelong learning programs. I had previously worked with the owner at another facility and was eager for the groundbreaking of the new complex. The primary goal of the design was to create and deliver a resident-centered experience that was powerful and innovative but also very easy to use. The community gathering room, for example, has digital projection with wired and wireless connections for displaying content and a robust digital mixer for events that call for multiple microphones. An Extron touch panel with pre-configured scenes for day-to-day simpler presentations provides a user-friendly and elegant interface and control system.
What I enjoyed most about working on this project was partnering with The Baldwin to make their vision for a leading independent living facility a reality. The Baldwin’s forward-thinking approach to delivering an all-in-one community allowed us to integrate multiple technologies throughout the facility, tailoring each room based on its utilization. The completed project is very impressive, to say the least. I am thrilled that our AV implementation now delivers the resident-centered experience they desire!

Tower Lane – New Haven, CT
As a systems consultant, I work with the client from their initial design requests through project closeout. What I enjoy most is understanding each client’s needs and working to get them the best solution possible. In 2024, my favorite client to work with was Tower Lane. They undertook a massive renovation, upgrading all aspects of the main floor living space. Our job was to design and install an experiential AV system incorporating a hearing loop and the latest sound technologies.
I found the entire team at Tower Lane a joy to work with. They were responsive to our ideas and always eager and excited about their construction project. They made my job enjoyable, and I looked forward to their weekly project update emails. What’s more thrilling is that they have additional renovation plans, so I look forward to continuing to help them with all things AV.

Old Town Hall – Andover, MA
My favorite project this year was the AV update at the Old Town Hall in Andover, MA. It is always exciting to equip a space with modern technology while staying true to its historic roots. The system features include a wireless audio control, a hearing assistance system, and Bluetooth streaming. Working in such an old building requires extreme attention to detail when mounting speakers and touch panels without damaging the walls. The tasteful addition of acoustic tiling improved the sound quality in the room, allowing speech to be clearer and entertainment to better connect with its audience.
These new technologies will support community events that may not have been possible in the past. It is great that the space will continue to be utilized and cherished by the town’s residents for years to come. I look forward to installing AV upgrades in similar environments in the coming year.
